Putting Alexa at the heart of your home theater is a tall task and one that the Fire TV Cube comes close to accomplishing. With a more powerful processor and local voice control, the new Cube feels snappy, but juggling cable TV along with various streaming services for shows, movies, music and more shows the limits of what voice recognition can currently do. The question is whether you really need this, and at £110 I’m not convinced Amazon does quite enough to convincingly answer the question. If you have a 4K TV, then you’ll likely have much of the functionality already replicated. And if that’s the case, and you already have an Echo, then aren’t you just better off buying a universal remote?
