The latest version of the Swift 5 is an excellent Windows 10 laptop which somehow manages to pack high performance, an excellent display, and a battery that'll last all day into a very tidy and lightweight package.

This laptop may not wow on first impression because its magnesium body plates and plastic touchpad don't treat your fingers as a MacBook might. But the Acer has quality where it matters, fitting good performance, a solid keyboard, and good screen into a circa-1kg laptop.

It is small, light, powerful and stylish, has ports aplenty and very solid battery life – and for the price, it’s pretty good value. It's not better than the new MacBook Air but it does offer Windows users an alternative for which no excuses need to be made.

The Acer Swift 5 is a great Ultrabook for those who want to work on the move thanks to a lightweight design, stellar battery life and competitive performance. However, concerns over the build quality may convince you to spend extra for a Dell XPS laptop, or move over to the MacBook Air.
