HP EliteBook x360 1040

There's nothing revolutionary about HP's Elitebook x360 1040, but it's a solid convertible laptop that performs well. Build quality and specification choices are generally impressive, although the 400cd/m² screen is rather dim and we'd like to see a privacy cover for the webcam. Beware, though, that high-end variants of the Elitebook x360 1040 are very expensive.

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 has strong performance, great battery life and a comfortable keyboard, but its anti-glare display is hazy.

For $2,349, I actually think this is a good deal, because this PC is that good. I'd recommend spending a few extra dollars for Sure View and 4G LTE though, because those features are totally worth having.

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5's slight stature, excellent build quality, and range of customization options make it an appealing ultra-premium 2-in-1 laptop for business use.

This is the 14-inch convertible to beat. Its few drawbacks don't detract from the long list of features and hardware options not found on most other subnotebooks including 4G LTE and a 700-nit touchscreen. If GPU performance is a concern, however, then the Acer Swift 7 or Surface Book 2 may make for better alternatives.
