The LG Gram 17 is lighter than most 17-inch laptops, but its middling performance gives us pause.
That means there’s a very specific user for whom this laptop is a great purchase: you must require a 17-inch screen, you must care about lightness above all else, and you must not plan on doing anything that taxes the integrated graphics. If you check those three boxes, the LG Gram 17 is the obvious choice for you.
This is the only 17-inch laptop made for those after a big-screen portable rather than a huge, powerful workstation. It's ultra-light for the size, which makes it mighty impressive.
The differences between the 2020 LG Gram 17 and the 2019 version are subtle but important enough to notice. Battery life and performance are generally better. The keyboard is improved as is the overall fit and finish, making it look more premium. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten any less expensive. But, if you want a large screen, long battery life and the weight of an ultraportable laptop, the Gram 17 is the answer.

The LG gram 17 is very expensive and not perfect but if you’re looking for an extremely portable laptop with a large screen, speedy performance and long battery life then is an excellent choice. In the 17in market, there's really no beating it.
Combined with the laptop's high price, it makes for a tough recommendation. It's light, portable and powerful, which makes for a great combination. But at $1,599.99 starting price ranging up to $2,199.99 (the value of the review unit LG sent me), it's a lot of money to ask for something that feels this flimsy.
Anyone desperate for a big-screen laptop they can carry anywhere will be well served by the LG Gram, but with performance on par with most 13in machines, it's a niche prospect
