Razer Blade Pro 17 - 2020

Though it's different in some ways, the design of the Blade Pro 17 is mostly the same as that of the rest of the Blades, with a look and feel that haven't changed in a while. The relatively austere, tanklike metal body remains. The screen bezels have gotten smaller, the ports have changed a bit and the heat venting has moved around, but ultimately it's the same pricey, well-balanced gaming-and-toiling workhorse we've come to appreciate.

The Razer Blade Pro 17 has some of the strongest performance in its class, but it's held back by its heavy build and short battery life – but if that doesn't bother you, there's a lot to love.

I liked the Blade Pro 17 last year, and I like it even more this year. Razer not only kept the best parts of the laptop the same, but they also updated the hardware specs and screen, as well as the keyboard's layout. As a result, this outperforms the previous generation by a fair margin, even if it's not the fastest implementation of the 8Core i7 platform, and remains one of the better-balanced 17-inchers in its portable niche. The short battery life and the steep pricing might hold some of you back, though.

The 300 Hz refresh rate is a luxury that only the most hardcore gamers will really want. For everyone else, even 240 Hz will be more than enough. The 2019 Blade Pro series appeals better to wider audiences for this reason especially since the pricier 2020 version doesn't offer that much of a performance advantage year-over-year.

The Razer Blade Pro 17 packs decent RTX gaming performance into a slick and thin shell, but some competitors offer more.
