The SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless is one of the best wireless gaming mice you can find. Its heavily perforated design aids in both keeping your hands cool while also providing a firm grip. Its looks won’t be for everyone, but it certainly takes the year’s lightweight design trend, maximizes its worth, and spits out a wireless mouse that’s cheap for what it offers and stellar at what matters most.
However, it’s the stunning True Move sensor, the PTFE Glide Skates, and the Golden Micro IP54 80M rated switches that really steal the show here. The mouse is exceptionally accurate at any DPI and any movement speed. The switches are defined and responsive, and overall… I’m struggling to think of any way they could have made it better. It’s one of the finest mice I’ve ever used and at just £60, it really does score top marks. I suspect we see a lot of eSports players holding one of these over the coming months.
Because the Aerox 3 feels no different in use than a regularly designed mouse, yet has all the benefits in light weight and glorious lighting that come from its design, we think that even if you're unsure of the aesthetics you'll be pleasantly surprised, and if you love the looks then the outstanding battery life and fast charging of the wireless model, coupled to the brilliant TrueMove sensors on both wired and wireless Aerox 3, will leave you nothing less than impressed. Fantastic.
Of the two models, we would recommend the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless all day long. It is more expensive than the wired model, but paying that bit extra ensures you are getting the best specs and all of those very handy connectivity options.
The Aerox 3 Wireless is one of SteelSeries’ best gaming mice. Super lightweight, long lasting battery, a great optical sensor that allows for lightning-fast, yet accurate swipes – there’s just a ton of things to love.
The SteelSeries Aerox 3 marries the unconventional honeycomb gaming mouse design with SteelSeries engineering, but the end result isn’t perfect.
Now, when it comes to performance you might expect that you’d need to be playing something like Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite or PUBG to get that proper ultra-lightweight experience. The truth is, any game that can be played with a keyboard and mouse becomes almost instantaneously great when paired with the Aerox 3 Wireless. From issuing commands in something like Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition or clicking all manner of clicks in Path of Exile or Diablo III, the flow that comes from not only going wireless, but also ultra-light, is, yeah, awesome.
For a mouse that weighs only 66 grams, SteelSeries have provided an unbelievable amount of performance and features for around $150AUD.
Finally, and despite the problems with the first copy we received, the mouse is particularly agile on our mat. Its weight of only 66 grams associated with the PTFE pads allows a really pleasant glide and makes the mouse particularly effective on the most demanding tracks.
If you're looking for a wireless ultralight mouse, this could be the right fit. Its weight, USB-C capabilities, and build quality make it a worthy option, as does the grip. The $100 price is also spot-on for what you get, making the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless a good value.
