Anyone buying the Odyssey Ark is basically paying to be a beta tester for Samsung. In general, we recommend against serving as consumer guinea pigs. But if you've been dying to have an impossibly gigantic curved gaming monitor, your wish has finally been granted.
The Ark’s cup is overflowing with interesting features and high-end specs that, at a much lower price, might be worth it for some people. As much fun as I’ve had testing it (and showing off its curvy, swervy gimmicks to my office mates), there wasn’t a day when I didn’t wish I was using my comparatively low-end dual monitor setup instead.
The Samsung Odyssey Ark delivers great image quality, a bold and immersive design and loads of features, so it does a great job of blurring the boundaries between monitors and TVs. It’s hugely expensive, though, and a proper TV will still do a better job in some areas.
Hands on: The only downside to this whole situation is the fact that it'll cost approximately $3,500 in stores. This is a monitor that likely costs more than all the monitors in your house combined. But it's big, it's beautiful, and we've not even gotten the chance to go in-depth with the smart features yet.
Hands on: This is a really cool monitor, and no mistake, but we couldn't help wondering who the Odyssey Ark is actually for - if you have this much money to spare on a monitor, we guess it could be a fun investment, but for most people a super high-quality alternative could be had for way less.
Hands on: The Samsung Odyssey Ark is extra in the best way possible. Do you need it as part of a high-end gaming setup? Definitely not, especially for the $3,499 price. You could get at least two GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards for that. But after sitting down in front of the Odyssey Ark, it was hard to walk away. The massive screen, smooth rotation and multitasking features make for a consolidated entertainment experience unlike anything else I’ve used before.
Hands on: Starting at $3,500, the Odyssey Ark is a big financial commitment for anyone. But if none of the other monitors released this year are big enough for you, Samsung’s new flagship gaming monitor could be the massive centerpiece your home battle station needs.
