For general users Intel Kaby Lake platform boards are likely better value as a 7700K costs $200 less than an 1800X chip. Value may differ for lower-end AMD CPUs but we haven’t been able to test those processors yet. However, if you’re into rendering, encoding - or you want to stream a video game on the same PC as the one you’re playing on - or your favourite game runs better on eight cores - or you’re betting that your future applications will run better on octacore processors - or you’re an enthusiastic overclocker (who shouldn’t be reading this review anyway) this is a decent platform even with our limited knowledge of the competition. Compared to a dedicated workstation with a $1,500 octacore Core i7 CPU, it's a bargain.
Our editors hand-pick these products using a variety of criteria: they can be direct competitors targeting the same market segment or can be similar devices in terms of size, performance, or features.

Honestly this Aorus Gaming 5 is a bit of a rough diamond. The rough part is the BIOS and the fact that tweaking is a bit harder to do compared to the competition. Once you have manually tweaked your processor, you will not look back though. You have...

The GIGABYTE AX370-Gaming 5 was an extremely solid board for me while testing and overclocking Ryzen. I have more trouble-free hours logged on this motherboard than any I have tested with. On the flip-side of that, Dan did not have the rosy experience I...
I made it very clear in my Z270X GAMING 5 review that I absolutely love the design of that motherboard and the AORUS branding as well. So, it shouldn't be any surprise that I love the look of the board as well. Seeing as they look very similar. I...
