Primarily funded off a Kickstarter in 2013, A Hat in Time – an indie 3D platformer that wished to emulate the glory days of Super Mario 64 – finally released in October this year on Windows and macOS. Since then, it has sold over 50,000 copies. And on...
A Hat in Time is more than a lovingly crafted homage to the world of platformers; it's a delightful adventure in its own right that brings creative innovation to the genre in an abundance of wonderful ways.Hat Girl's outlandish escapades never fail to...
It seems like most games I review these days have been Kickstarted. I think it really shows what a positive force the gaming community can be when pulled together over a common goal. This time around it was for A Hat in Time, a throwback to old-school...
Charming, playful, and scrappy as a sweep's stovepipe, A Hat in Time has its ups and downs, but if it can win your heart, it's well worth the ride. A modern platformer that can truly hold its...
Most of A Hat in Time feels like a modge podge of creative ideas only amateurly stitched together. The game teeters between delightful charm (like the time I encountered a Mafiosa who wanted to play patty-cake then deceptively punched me across Mafia...

With witty writing, colorful presentation and smooth and varied gameplay, A Hat in Time is one of the best platform games released in recent years. While the game wears its influences right in the open, it's never bound to them, offering features that...
A Hat in TimeSome scuff-marks aside, A Hat in Time is a creative, playful, and polished tribute to a genre that doesn't get nearly enough love on PC.See commentsLoad...
I am probably very wrong. But there is a palpable sense of discovery to the game, nonetheless, a sense of a design team unlocking the confidence to try the kinds of things the game increasingly tries to do. Whatever's really at work, A Hat in Time starts as a warm curio, and by its conclusion it is hitting some surprisingly high notes.
Though it's not apparent at first, A Hat in Time has all the best ingredients of an N64-era 3D platformer. It's cute and colorful with a wacky cast of characters; it offers a variety of collectibles to find on each level, some far easier to get than...
