Benchmarked: Graphics & CPU Performance Homeworld Remastered looks like a respectable rehash of an old favorite and I can see it providing many gamers with countless hours of fun. Now, what I wouldn't do for a remastered Command & Conquer with multiplayer.

Homeworld was released in 1999. The 20th century. Play its remastered edition in 2015, though, and you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a brand new video game. Almost everything about it - and I'm not talking about its new visuals - feels fresh.

You can compare the originals with their remasters in this collection, and if you have the gumption to sign up for yet another unnecessary online service, you can also play the multiplayer beta, which, because it is officially still in testing phase, falls outside of the scope of this review.

With space battles now more spectacular than even the evergreen Eve Online, and with far less effort required to enjoy them, this sees two excellent games restored. While in a past it was tricky to argue a decisive case for either of the Homeworld games for greatest RTS of all time, now they've been forever merged, updated and supplemented with the original games, the collection is indispensable.
