Overall, the Audioengine HD3 is an excellent addition to Audioengine’s desktop speaker lineup and an excellent buy for those looking to purchase a top desktop speaker that brings great sound quality, versatility and an aesthetically pleasing design. Highly recommended!
So now Audioengine gives you a real choice when it comes to powered desktop speakers. If you only want to spend $249, they still sell the A2 Powered Speakers. If you want a little better sounding speaker with better looks, a headphone amp with volume control, and every feature I could want, then there is the HD3. They are the best desktop speakers I have ever heard.
The HD3s don't quite occupy that same rarified air, but for just a touch over half the price, will redefine the listening experience for those on a more limited budget. Or those who just want totally kick-ass sound from their desktop setup. The HD3s are very, very highly recommended!
Audioengine has done a smart job of scaling down the HD6, and including a USB input. I love these little speakers, and they will be my desktop reference for under $500 speakers. The HD6 will continue to me my easy recommendation for those with larger spaces and bigger budgets.
These speakers may be small but they are amazing. They sound great, they get super loud and they’re small enough that they can go just about anywhere in your home or office. Add in the wide range of connectivity options and you have my new favorite pair of speakers. At $399 these aren’t inexpensive but, had I not gotten them for review, I am pretty sure I would be ordering a pair. They are that impressive.
