Google Nest Mini

Hands on: Despite the name change, the Nest Mini is far from an overhaul of the Home Mini. If your house is already kitted out with the originals there’s no real reason to swap them out for the newer model - unless you're desperate to mount one on the wall. But for anyone looking to add Google to more rooms, or get the Google Assistant into their home for the first time, the Nest Mini is the new best, and cheapest, way to do it.

Hands on: One other bit worth mentioning is the smart addition of a wall mount on the bottom of the device. It’s something small, but handy. Using a nail or thumbtack (well, probably just a nail, given the size/weight), you can now hang the Mini on a wall. Apparently this was a pretty heavily requested feature for those with limited shelf space. I could certainly imagine sticking it in my kitchen, where counter space is at an extreme premium — though dealing with the cord is another question entirely.

Hands on: It’s far from the most exciting thing Google has announced today, but the Nest Mini is a fine update to a popular product. The most surprising thing to me is that Google kept the price the same — though, again, the chances that you’ll find discounts on them seems pretty high.
